Calistoga is intent on being a must-visit destination on the North Bay music itinerary. In addition to having the best nightlife in the Napa Valley, Calistoga hosts award-winning jazz festivals twice a year and year-round events that feature a broad range of music from rockabilly to mariachi. A welcome sign of spring is Mustard Mud & Music (March 7 & 8, 2009), a jazz and wine tasting festival that takes over the town’s scenic downtown area as a featured part of the Napa Valley Mustard Festival. Calistoga’s walkable Lincoln Avenue becomes one big jazz club as some of the Bay Area’s best musicians play while two dozen top-notch local wineries offer tastes of their newest releases in stores, restaurants, public spaces, hotels and tasting rooms. Tickets are $20 for a Jazz Pack (one day admission, souvenir glass, 3 tasting tickets) or $35 for a Weekend Pass (both days, souvenir glass, 6 tasting tickets). For tickets, call 707-942-6333 or visit the Calistoga Chamber & Visitors Center, 1506 Lincoln Avenue, Calistoga, 94515, open 7 days a week, 8am-5pm.
